Stylishly Present: How Birthdays Connect Us To Our Purpose and People

Life is not something to be taken lightly. It’s meaningful and precious! I truly believe that everyone has something special inside of them, and our purpose is to share that with the world to make it a better place. Last week, my Pastor said something that stuck with me: there are three important days in your life—the day you were born, the day you were born again, and the day you discover what you were born to do. I couldn’t agree more, and that’s exactly why I take birthdays so seriously. It’s the day God breathed life into you—the day your assignment on Earth officially began.

To me, birthdays are so much more than cake and presents. They’re a celebration of purpose, potential, and everything that makes life beautiful. They’re a time to reflect, recharge, and set new intentions for the year ahead. I don’t just celebrate my birthday for fun (although that’s part of it!); I celebrate as an act of gratitude—for the life I’ve been blessed with, the journey I’m on, and the people I get to share it with.

We all have our own unique paths, but they’re not meant to be walked alone. Along the way, we cross paths with people who shape us, guide us, and pour into us. That’s never by accident. Those connections are intentional and purposeful, and they remind us that we’re all here to help one another in some way. So when someone comes into my life and enhances my journey, I believe their birthday is a chance to celebrate them and say, “Thank you for being you.”

That’s why, every year on my birthday, I want to be surrounded by the people I love and the people who love me. I want to be with those who make me feel seen, appreciated, and valued—the ones who’ve impacted my life and whose lives I’ve been able to impact in return. Anyone who knows me knows how seriously I take my birthday. How people show up around this time says so much to me, and it matters.

I’m also a big believer in giving gifts. It’s definitely one of my love languages. Birthdays are the perfect time to show gratitude in a tangible way. Whether it’s something big or small, a gift says, “You matter to me, and I’m thankful for you.” I also believe birthdays are about receiving—presents, love, meaningful connections, and experiences that remind us why life is worth celebrating.

So, here’s a peek at what’s on my birthday wishlist this year—things that I’m looking forward to and that will FOR SURE add some joy and excitement to my life:

Space Gray 11-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular 2TB with an Apple Pencil

I’ve been wanting an iPad for some time now. I feel like having an iPad is sophisticated. I romanticize my life lol, and I see myself with an iPad being more productive with content and styling.

AirPods Max

These are a NEED. A friend of mine has a pair, they let me listen, and I’ve been wanting my own pair ever since. They’ll definitely motivate me to get back in the gym. I want to start running again and I see myself running the lakes with my AirPods Max (:

Digital Camera

I saw that FujiFilm made a tiny digital camera and I’ve been wanting a digital camera for a while. So I think this will be perfect for me. It will definitely up the ante with my content (:

Perfume

If you know me, then you know I love smelling good. Perfume is always on my list, and these are just my top 3 I want for myself right now: Creed Spring Flower, Tiziana Terenzi Cabiria, and Bond No. 9 High Line

Bags

I love a good bag chile! That Saint Laurent Niki Oversized Fur Handbag in Brown??!!! She is on my list of things I NEED! I will have one before the year ends; I’m manifesting it. I also really like Coach bags – preferably a Tabby 20 or a Lana 23. The Tabby’s are so sleek, and the Lana’s give “I got it together.”

Shoes

I will appreciate a good sneaker, heel, or boot for sure! I really want the Travis Scott x Wmns Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG SP 'Olive.' I’ve wanted these shoes since he released them. I want them so so so so so so BADDDDD. If you get me these sneakers, I’ll love you for life!

Birthdays aren’t just another day—they’re a celebration of life, love, and purpose. Today, I’m reflecting on the beauty of my own journey and the people who’ve made it so special. So, here’s to me—happy birthday to the person I am and the person I’m becoming! Let’s continue to embrace life, love, and all the moments that make our journeys worth celebrating.

Stylishly yours,

QUESTION FROM INSTAGRAM: “Imagine that I am your fairy godmother, and I give you an opportunity to select 1 archival fashion piece. What would it be?”

Ughh, choosing one is sooo hard! But if I had to choose just one it would either be a bag or shoe. For the bag, I’d say a Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 — very classic, sporty and chic just like me (: For the shoe, I’d say the Balenciaga 2001-2003 Knife Boot — edgy and stylish, which is on brand for Balenciaga (my FAVORITE brand).
